ON MY 2004 BENNINGTON RL 210 DECK THE SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING.  I HAVE A 200HP YAMAHA 4-STROKE MOTOR.  ANY IDEAS ON WHAT MAY BE WRONG?  IS THERE A SENSOR ON THE MOTOR SENDING A SIGNAL TO THE SPEEDOMETER OR IS THE GAUGE SIMPLY GONE BAD?     B)

The speedo is run by a tube from the motor and sometimes it gets clogged. You will have to get behind the gauge and check the hose and make sure it's clear or didn't fall off the gauge.

Thanks cwag911.  Hose is still connected to speedo.  Traced back to where it interfaces with motor.  Will pull hose and check for blockage.

If the water pickup is in the lower unit of the motor, it may have gotten a little bit of trash in it to stop it up.  I have had this happen on my bass boats several times over the years.  I used a small drill bit by hand to get the stuff out.  I turned it counter clockwise while inserting it into the hole on the front edge of the lower unit and the trash came out every time.  Hope this helps.
