Insurance and animal damage

So I was reading through our Boat Us policy for the new boat and saw animal damage is excluded. So if a raccoon shreds the seats I'm on my own. Anyone have issues with animal damage in the past? What steps do you take in the off season to mitigate this type of damage?

He sure did a nice job on that toon. Are there any preventative steps to take so that damage doesn't happen in the first place? Or am i paranoid?
