Spun Hub

I've been trying to figure out why I don't have the power I had when I got my 2575RL Mercruiser 5.0.
One suggestion was that I might have a spun hub.
That didn't seem particularly likely since one symptom of a spun hub is that the boat responds at lower speed, but the engine will over-rev at higher speed (because the hub starts to spin, but the prop doesn't, if I understand correctly).

Anyway, I decided to check the hub and replace with my spare if necessary.
I found the cracks shown in the photo below. I don't know if this constitutes a 'spun hub' but I knew it wasn't good.
I replaced the hub, but it did not solve my problem. Still can't get any more than about 2300 rpm and 23.5 mph

I'm going to start another thread on that issue, but thought it might be interesting if people shared their experience (and photos, if possible) with spun hubs.
