Transom on Crankdown Trailer

We are new owners of a Bennington 188sv. We purchased a crankdown trailer- we live about 200 yards from the public access of our lake and wanted easy on and off loading. The transom on the rear where the motor is attached is so wide that as we take our boat out of the water on side of the transom will often land on a strut of the trailer. Not a good thing. Has anyone else dealt with this situation and have a suggestion. Or solution? We are considering attaching thin metal plates to the insides of the struts to guide the transom into place and avoid having it land on a strut. Thanks!!

Some guides to properly center pontoon on trailer will do the trick.
FWIW, it will not hurt the transom. Especially for only 200 yards.
