White beacon on side of console

Question on our 2550 RSFB.


There is a white light in the side of the console.  It's functionality appears tied to the 360 degree stern light.  It comes on for both the NAV and ANC modes and is so bright it's almost distracting when it's dark.


Is this by design? It seems like you'd want to be able to control this light separately from the stern light.

We boated with little ones this past weekend and they loved to come up and push the "button." So, if you do also, don't be surprised if it is "mysteriously" back on again sometime in the future.
