Yes. that would be an understatement. Unfortunately upon delivery of my boat back to sunny Arizona this happened. Now we are waiting on a new toon meanwhile the current one has been welded for temporary use.
Looks like the tie down was super tight and the trailer hit something very hard and ripped the eye out...
In my opinion, tie downs don't need to be overly tight. Just snug. Otherwise you are potentially removing hundreds of pounds of capacity from the strap by having it prestressed.
