from your picture, you did not have the arm "latched" around the pin. The black plastic clip must be snapped around that pin not resting on top of it, it takes a good hard smack with the bottom of your palm to seat it. If you have always run it like that I am surprised it hasn't happened prior.

Aluminum doesn't react well to PDR (paintless dent repair) it tends to oil can, especially on big flat surfaces. It is hard to tell from your picture but those look like fairly large dents just behind the silver accent panel, If this was my new boat I would ask for new panels.

If your old transducer is still on the boat cut the wire at the transducer zip tie the new cables to the old cables and pull them through to the dash or wherever your display is. I have had to do this 2 times and it worked flawlessly for me.

I am going with the express package and the 115 ProXS. I have a 150 verado on my current boat and never use it at full power. I live on a medium size private lake with a 40MPH speed limit. 95% of our time is spent slow cruising or tied up with friends.
