I received my rack today. I don’t have my boat here to try it out but the rail spacing is exactly 1.25” so it should fit well. Overall, I would say this rack is outstanding. It’s solidly built and not too heavy.
I know it’s probably been asked before but thoughts on using a chain with a box anchor. From what I have researched, about 1/2 the folks out there use them. I am finally upgrading to a box anchor and want to set it up right.
I feel like my motor is mounted too low on my 2018 GCW with a Yamaha 150 HP. Looking at the attached pictures, what are your thoughts? I feel it it should be up 1-2 holes to help efficiency and speed. My top speed has always been just bit low at 37.
I’m starting to get a light mildew buildup on the floor of my 2018 22GCW. Any suggestions for cleanup that will not damage the sea grass flooring? I was going to try Starbrite Mildew Remover and a scrub brush. My boat sits in the water most of the year, covered.
Looking for suggestions for a wakeboard
mount on the boat. I’m thinking possibly on the tow bar. Options for inside the boat are welcomed as well. I have a wakeboard and a Zupboard.
Quick update: I switched from a Solas 14.25x17 to a Reliance 14.25x17 and I am very pleased. The speed from the Solas prop was nice but the throttle response, cavitation, and vibration was not. The Reliance prop is so much better and the 3 issues I listed with the Solas prop are now gone...
What prop are you all running on your Merc 150’s? My friend has a 11x17P on his 2019 150 HP and his top speed sucks. I run a 14.25x17 on my Yammy 150 HP, which lead me to believe his prop diameter is to small.
14.5x15 Reliance would likely be your best bet. It all depends what your goals are. Use this tool to dial it in.

I lot of folks on our lake purchased through Lake Norman Marina. I went through a Marine Max Greenville and couldn’t have been more pleased. I got 27% off MSRP and free delivery to the lake (2 hr drive each way for the dealer). Ask for Thomas at Marine Max. He is awesome
Personal preference really. I had a 2015 Merc 115 on my last boat. Never had an issue with it but it was louder then my 2018 Yamaha 150 HP. Also, the break in schedule for Yamaha is easier in my opinion:
Yamaha break in schedule:
1. First hour – run the motor at varying speeds up to 2000 rpm...
Sounds like a great setup. I would recommend a Yamaha 200. I have a Yamaha 150 on my 2018 22GCW and it’s excellent motor but the extra HP would be great. The absolute cheapest time to buy extra HP is when you purchase the boat.
Took about 1.5 hrs but I successfully scrubbed all the grime off the toons. Got all my speed and rpm back. Couldn’t be happier. Now I need to get into a habit of doing it 1x/month so it won’t get so bad.
