I actually found the sending unit. In my case, it was under the cup holder just above where filler tube for the gas. I put out the cup holder and there it was. I took the numbers off of it and went to the manufacturer (in my case https://kus-usa.com/product-tag/electric-reed-switch/) and I ordered it direct.
