I just left the dealership were i was shopping for a center console off shore boat because I live in Gulfport MS and if you want to see pretty water you have to get to the barrier islands 10 miles out hence the center console. My sales person actually surprised me when I listed the reasons why I wanted a boat he said that a tri-toon would actually give my wife and I the most comfortable ride even in 3 foot swells So I am looking at a 2017 22SSRX with a Yamaha 150. The interior is beautiful not what I would have expected from a pontoon and very modern. I would like some advice before dropping $46,000. Thanks in advance!

$46K ...... I almost got that much with my 20hp inland lake setup ...... break that bank vault open and spend some more .....

List the boat specs as there's many on here with tri-toons.

I've been in 1-1/2' rollers and some heavier water and I could not believe how my boat handled it, my glass boat would of been a mess out there. I'm sure the ocean has 1000x more abuse to offer than what I've been thru but I'm not surprised by the salesmen recommendations.

You should YouTube search for videos.  I was checking briefly and was finding different ones out there.  Whatever direction you go in, best of luck on making the best choice for your use.  Happy Boating!

I got last years model for under 40,  w/Suzuki 150, w/ trailer, in Ohio.  Check out my gallery.  Yours has the saltwater package?  Seriously, I would consider maxing out HP to what the rating is, mine is rated 175.  10 miles out, 3' waves, that's a long ride, even if it only happens once.  Also, upgraded helm chairs, two batteries, cup holders, rubrail, the more you can get now the less you have to do later.  Post the build info.  Also, I went from a 19' bowrider and I am smiling a big old smile every time I go wide open, these things eat waves that would have been hammerin the glass boat.

I love this article .....

                                                                                        Pontoon Boats

Remember Grandpa’s pontoon boat: two tubes topped with plywood, pushed around by a balky, smoke-belching outboard? Well, pontoon boats today pull skiers, wakeboarders and tubers. They count passengers into the double digits. They can blow your hat off your head — and pivot on the proverbial dime to retrieve it before it sinks. Many pontoon boats are still two-tube watercraft, but now those tubes are sleek and bear lifting strakes and keels. A small outboard engine will move one pleasantly. Many manufacturers add a third pontoon, producing speedsters that handle like V-hull boats. As pontoon boat size and sophistication has increased, so have power options, which now include large and/or multiple outboard engines or sterndrive power plants. Up top, the state-of-the-art amenities include posh seating, moveable tables, wet bars, serious stereos, and even underwater and mood lighting — a living room that can hit more than 50 mph!Yeah, Grandpa would be stunned.

I regularly take my 24 SSL tritoon offshore in the GoM.  Last time out I was about 16 miles west of Sanibel Island.  I've been out in 3'ers with short period. Might make you puke but the boat will take it.  Must haves include:

1.  Horsepower, horsepower, horsepower.  Don't even think about doing it with less than 150 HP.

2. Roughwater package.  Performance foils and lifting strakes.  Don't skimp "out there".

3. Fuel capacity.  I added a 2nd 19-gallon tank.

4.  Safety gear.  You're playing in the real world out there.  Fixed VHF (for maximum RF power), PLB - attached to you at all times, handheld VHF - attached to you at all times.

Enjoy!  It's a helluva good boat.  Just make sure you learn how it handles - it definitely handles different than a center console.

Do you have to cross any bars going out or in through an inlet?  If so, you REALLY want to get a feel for your boat before doing so.

Go to the boat builder and price it out. You should be able to negotiate a deal between 15-20% off msrp. Although spring dealers may not be so generous. I ordered my 21 Slxp with sps, Yamaha 150 ,pilllowtop furniture, sea grass floor, gps speedo, ss ladder, saltwater  pkg., dual battery, extended art deck, striker 4 fish finder, heavy duty rub rail, you get the picture. Pretty much decked out and was right where you are in price. Good luck and welcome to the club

sorry this post was for another topic, well hope it helped anyway
