2019 Bimini waterproofing.

I have a 2019 Pennington pontoon. And my Bimini is in need of waterproofing. I read due to the age you should use a silicone. Has anyone have any recommendations or have used a silicone? Thank you
 
I had some work done at my dealers canvas shop last spring . They still recommend 303, I asked about the other brands they said stick with the 303 . Others will mention Starbright , but Im sticking with my dealers recommend brand .

I was ready to switch to Starbright based on other comments here.
If you're not in a hurry ,see what others have to say.
 
I tried both 303 and Starbright, thought Starbright worked a tad better, was easier to find, and cheaper. I bought a 1 gallon pesticide spray system from amazon, made application a breeze. The biggest challenge is finding a spot to lay out the bimini and mooring cover to allow enough time to dry and flip over (instructions say 6 hours before using or folding, neither mentions re-coating). I think I waited 2 hours per side.
 
Lawrence the adventurer, I was actually thinking of spray ing the Bimini while it's up and not having to take it down.

Don't do that. The spray will get on your furniture and panels
Then you have a real mess, that's hard to clean especially the furniture.

I haven't water proofed my Bimini, but if I did, I would open the Bimini and then put the mooring cover on to protect the furniture and contain the drips. (Then I'd probably waterproof the entire mooring cover.). I have an 8 foot step ladder and think I could get high enough to spray the Bimini.

I know others here have had issue with waterproofing the mooring cover while it is on the boat, but I didn't.
 
I've seen too many bad out comes here spraying canvas while on the boat . If it works for you that's great. But I wont try it , in my opinion it's worth the extra time to make sure I dont mess up the boat. But I'm retired so I have plenty of time . Lol
 
Based on the mess I made with it OFF the Benny - NOPE, NOT A CHANCE, JUST SAY NO, DO IT RIGHT OR NOT AT ALL. Actually, the Bimini (and I have a double) was easy to take off and put back on - maybe 30 minutes to put back on with two of us the first time. You will want to clean (Power Washer, Scrub Brush, Commercial Laundry - done it all), and it must be 100% dry. Then apply to one side and let dry - instructions suggest 6 hours - but it was a warm day, I kept adjusting the bimini (it does not lie completely flat) so the nooks and crannies would dry - and flipped it after 2 or 3 hours on a warm to hot day. I then let it sit overnight, and re-installed in the next afternoon after it warmed up.

So, removing the Bimini I noticed material separating at the zipper in one area. Maybe I can tape over after all is done? Again, thanks for the good suggestions!
 
If you are the original owner that Bimini should be covered by your warranty
 
I have to dig in a little more about the warranty. The Bennington warranty doesn't say much about Bimini that I could see. I'll visit the marina or I bought the pontoon. And maybe they can give me a little more detail. Thanks
 
Just lay it on your garage floor and spray it with whatever waterproofing spray you choose! Let it dry and spray it again! Very simple!!!
 
I took my mooring cover off. Laid it out on my driveway and sprayed it with a pump sprayer. I used the starbright product but not the water based, the solvent based. Lasts a whole lot longer, Expensive, but a solid product. I also sprayed my Bimini cover on the boat. I made sure to always spray toward the center, As I went around the periphery and I didn't get any on the inside of the boat. Worked just fine. Saved a lot of work.
Bought an extra gallon on prime days because they had it for half price. Used almost a whole gallon on the Bimini and the mooring cover.
 
Jack thanks, I contacted the marina where I bought my pontoon. And will be taking the cover and the Bimini over next week for a warranty claim. So we'll see how that goes. Thanks again

Just bought a used 2019 RSB with 33 hours on the motor in northern Indiana. It Sat on a covered lift for 1 summer and in a showroom for another summer so maybe 4 summers of use at most. Given that background, do you know how often the Bimini and the mooring cover should be sprayed
