Went back to Michigan Tech in Houghton Michigan this past weekend for my daughters spring orientation as she is going to transfer there this fall to study Wildlife Ecology and Conservation.
Haven't set foot on the football field since my last game in the fall of 1994 when it was grass field, no lights, no stadium and barely a press box that would make most HS stadiums look huge.
Most HS stadiums still make this D2 school look small, but they now have turf, lights, bleachers, and a decent sized press box. Got to walk on the field and take a couple selfies at midfield and the endzone. Brought back a lot of memories of my time there. When I played, it was Sherman field, so it was nice they put a homage to that in the turf. Now its called Kearly Stadium.
Just a few more weeks until kickoff. College sports may be a mess in many respects these days, but with a new season comes new hope. Looking forward to how my Spartan’s look with so many changes going on: new coaches, staff, personnel and in this era so many new players.
Almost down to a week and counting. We watched the BigTEN MSU training camp last night. Got my wife and I stoked for the upcoming season and the start of turning around the slide we’ve been on in recent years. Time to get back to what we were under coach Dantonio. I really feel like Fitz, and the team he has gathered around him are the right crew for the job.
