The change to sps was a big improvement. Question though, if a 135 evinrude claims to put out 150, why don’t they throw a 150 sticker on it? I’ve always wondered about this.

If you were told it would be faster and were expecting it to be faster, I would make sure the dealership knows that. I would also tell them they need to figure out the problem before you sign for the boat. From everything I've read, those ETEC HO's are strong engines and I would expect performance close to a 150. Not equal to, but close.OK so the boat is in and we drove it today and I'm not sure what to think. With 3 of us on board and no other gear, I could only hit 33 mph. I expected more. I could have swore my neighbor with a 23ssrx and Yamaha 150 was nearing 40 mph. I didn't sign for it and told them I had to think over night. If I can only hit 33, what about when all the gear is on and 4 or 5 people? The salesman I ordered from said it would be close to 40 mph. What to do?
I am going back tomorrow with my sons. I spoke to another employee at the marina and he said while he understands my disappointment with the top speed based on the boat show salesman's claim, that is decent performance for a 22 foot triple w/extended aft deck. If I want faster, I should expect to pay more.
Most of our time is cruising at 5-10 mph, or anchored and swimming. We tried tubing a few times last year with the Sweetwater, but it was boring for teenagers. But if now I can go 30 and turn a lot sharper, that should do, right? That's really my only performance criteria.
Am I settling or being realistic?
Well the Evinrude is "supposed" to put out 148 HP that's why I thought it would be ok. I guess the 2 stroke has more bottom end, launching power than top speed, which is probably ok. It did launch really hard and get on plane very fast.
Water sports is not our main pastime, I just want the option. I also don't think I would tube with more than 4 or 5 people on board.
