Looking at buying a 2010 2550 rcw with a 150 mercury optimax. Has 25" tubes (2) and riser strakes. What kind of speed could I expect to see from this combination. Just looking for cruising and top end estimates.

25 1/2 foot twin toons with strakes are relatively rare with 150 hp 2 strokes. We don't have much relativity to other boats on this website.

Is the motor an Optimax or an Optimax Pro XS? The XS is about 15 more horsepower than rated.

While the boat's a little heavy, it doesn't have the drag of the center toon. You're probably looking at the high 30's when the nose cones are trimmed out of the water.

Most of the longer boats are now tritoon's, as they handle crowds and heavy loads so much better. And most of them have 4 stroke motors, even though there's nothing wrong with a modern 2 stroke motor.

It' all depends on what you're going to be doing with the boat. If you're into water sports (tubing), a tritoon is preferred. If you're cruising with 6-7 people, that boat would be great. The R series interior is very, very plush.

Just go for an in water demonstration to see how it performs.

Most that posted speeds for an R with 150hp had average top speed of 38mph
