257l tritoon

I am sure others will respond regarding the prop, but for comparison purposes I have 22SX tritoon, 150 Yamaha, with Sea Legs / Ultra Legs adding ~500 lbs, and I can hit 37mph with half tank gas and just me in the boat on a calm day. Normally I would assume that your 25L is heavier, but my Sea Legs probably gets us closer in weight.

What are your RPM's at WOT ?
I previously had a 23 Ft RCW with a 150 I hit about 35 with 2 adults full tank and clean toons . 15X15 Prop .

I have a 257L tritoon with a 150 Yamaha and top speed is 30 mph. Is the prop the problem? It was my wife and myself
Something certainly seems to be off. Some helpful starting details for you to provide for better input:
(1) RPM’s at WOT (and load and conditions)?
(2) What prop is on it now?

Welcome to the forum Stringbean! We get this question a lot. There are a few factors that can affect your overall top speed. First of all what kind of prop do you have on there now? Material, size and pitch? What are your RPMs at wide open throttle? Are your pontoons clean or dirty? Are you trimming up to get your boat out of the water after you get on plane?!? You have a big heavy boat but I would think you would be getting at least mid to upper 30's with your 150.....

Apologies I didn't see Jacks or Vikingstaffs post when I answered. Didn't mean to repeat their questions.....

I had aluminum and went to stainless steel but I don’t know size or pitch , sorry

Good move going to stainless Stringbean! Next time you have a chance to look at your prop the info is stamped on it like this.....Screenshot_20250612-193544.png

This will have a big impact. Next time out, can you get us what your RPM’s are at WOT in addition to that prop info? That’ll all help us assist tremendously. Also, when testing it and getting those numbers, do it with the bimini stowed in the radar position.

Are tubes clean?
Any water in tubes?
Ditto on proper RPM. A 150 makes nowhere near 150 horsepower if not operating in it's optimal powerband.
