Went out today. Have 24 foot spdx with 150 hp. I can get 37 mph at 5800 rpm. I was surprised with 8 people on board and our gear I couldn't get over 23 mph. At WOT it wouldn't get past 5000 rpms. New to the pontoon thing and assume this is normal. But should i be careful how i run the motor with that many people and that load on the motor.  Its broken in now with 12 hours on the motor.

Was everyone up front? Express or sps package?

Strakes on the toons?

Move some towards the stern. I can run 6 adults  and 4 kids at 37-38mph all day long with them seated correctly. Put everybody up front and I have a hard time pushing it over 30! Bedside the water pushing out the sides till I get on plane is crazy!. That group was not boaters so I can let them slide! :)

Rule # 1 with any boat wen it comes to seating. MOVE EM ON BACK,and it's even more so for a pontoon. Because the front is where the most seating is available for groups. the only way to overcome is more HP. Good luck with explaining it to non boaters.
