So, fun to rebuild my boat, look at new options, dream of a twin engine (gas prices, maybe not). Actually, the only two items I see that I LOVE are the LillyPad ladder (an easy upgrade) and the collapsible Guard Rail. Purchased in 2021, current pricing has increased by an average of 9% per year since then! I poked around some used sites, seems I have lost maybe $30 to $40K over 5 years - say $7K per year by 20 days on the water - $350 per day OF FUN (That's about per person for Disneyland - LOL). Considering they rent for about $900 a day - this is the first boat that has really held its value! (or is inflation simply out of control?). Either way - SO MUCH FUN and what a GREAT purchase!

That a really interesting way to calculate your value for fun.

Can't help it, I am an accountant....LOL

My wife, also and accountant, would totally appreciate you broke that down!

I find it interesting your boat has lost that much value in 5 years. I am not sure those “used” sites are the best comparison.

I “almost” sold mine last June. Used sites showed listing it about 10k less than I paid. However, boats on Marketplace seemed to be listed a bit higher.

I listed it at my purchase price around 8pm on a weekday on FB Marketplace. Had 10 messages by the next morning. An easy 20 by 4pm that same day. More than half wanted to see it asap, and 2 were angling to see it that day. No one bothered sending me lowball offers or anything.

My wife slowed the roll on it. We went out for a late day cruise after she was done with work- calm water that day. My back did okay. I apologized to those that had reached out. Took it off the market by 8pm the next day.

However, the brief experience left me thinking if I actually decided to sell it I will have to list it for a little more than I paid for it new in 2017 because I could likely get it - especially compared to a comparably equipped new tritoon.

Based on what I paid for mine in 2014 and what I think I could sell it for now, I’m probably at a cost of $1,500 a year for mine not counting insurance and gas. That is cheap fun!
