Adding a flag pole

Need advice...Do I need the dealer to install an additional OEM flag pole to the starboard side on my 2025 26MSB? The dealer says I need to have a service tech come out (for a $50.00 charge) to inspect the floor to determine if a flag pole can be installed. Shouldn't the dealer service department know if that could happen without charging me a service charge to come to the boat?

Personally I’d do it myself. A flag mount is not load bearing. Just make sure there isn’t a floor support under before drilling through the floor.

I agree 100% and would certainly do it myself, but I actually called them to install it because I didn't want to incorrectly do something on a new boat. The goal of putting this on this forum was that someone from Bennington would see this and offer a solution other than their own service department charging a $50 fee to come inspect their 2025 boat to install their OEM flag pole. I would think their own service department could consult with their own build sheet to verify that the installation could happen on the starboard side, since all of them I have seen are installed on the port side. I do appreciate your response! I was hoping people were interactive on the forums! Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Congratulations on your MSB. Is this new for you, are are you going on your second year with it? We do have a great group of folks around here and they can be very interactive. I certainly encourage you to take a look through the forum. Tons of info in here from owner both new and experienced alike.

Just so you know, Bennington corporate doesn’t follow the forum. Us moderators are all volunteer Bennington owners ourselves, but we do not work for Bennington. I am simply sharing this because in your reply above it sounded like you were hoping someone from Bennington themselves would see your post and recommend an alternative.

That said, did you share what you said above with the actual dealership? I hear what you are saying. It does seem odd they want to send someone out to inspect for this particular item vs a) either outright knowing, or b) checking a similar model at the dealership. I can only guess, with the M line being only 1 year old, that perhaps they are not as dialed in on that model and just want to play it safe.

Give it a little time, and perhaps someone else around here as added a flat pole to the starboard side of an MSB…or at least one of the model line swingbacks, and they can give some input. Happy boating!!!

You have a Lifetime Structural Warranty , mounting in the wrong location "Could" void that warranty .
2 years ago I wanted to have my authorized Bennington dealer install an underdeck electric anchor .
I was told by Bennington than installing that anchor could void my structural warranty .

Jeff, great info! First year owning! Purchased in November, so only a few months in. Luckily, living on Lake Lanier in Georgia, we've had a "mild" winter and we've had the chance to use it a bit. Good advice all round! I was holding off contacting my guy at Atlanta Marine since they've been slammed with the Atlanta Boat show, and was hoping to resolve it with service. Thanks again for responding...it certainly isn't a rush item, but wanted to get the boat all ready before the service work started getting busy for the season down here.

Jack, very good point!! Adding a little accessory like that myself and voiding a lifetime warranty would be the ultimate fail!!!

Thats exactly why I didn't install that anchor and it would have been one of their dealers doing the install.

Here is Benningtons phone number if you would like to call them, 888 906 2628.
But they are very busy this time of year doing the boat show circuit.

I anticipate it would be a hassle but taking your boat to them for hands on examination would also work. You and the tech could hash out alternatives in person.

Appreciate everyone's replies! I wanted to add to the story that the boat is in the marina where the dealership is located, and I did not purchase a trailer; however, to update the outcome, contacting the dealer was the best course of action. The dealer agreed to have the service team meet him at the boat and install the flag pole this week. Big applause to Dan Linhart at Atlanta Marine!! I would recommend him to anyone looking for a boat. Looks like it's all heading in the right direction...again, thanks for the replies...

Excellent!
