A lot of us have the Sony MDX-60UI as our stock radio, which to me is fine, but some of us may want the benefit of the Satellite radio when were out on the water.

This head unit is XM Ready and compatible with XM radio and a kit can be added to make it function very nice.  I just added this kit to my Sony MDX 60UI and since I already have an XM account it costs me 9 bucks a month to activate and use this on the boat.  Everything plugs under the helm and can be zip tied out of the way.

The Sony XM Direct 2 complete kit is pretty much plug and play into the back of the radio plus running the xm antenna.   The only caveat I have, is once you get the unit you have to program the XM interface adapter to interact with the Sony Radio which does require the computer, internet, downloading the sony drivers and uploading it to the interface.  Once that's done the install is easy just plug to back and activate radio with XM and go.

Here is the link to the kit http://www.xm-radio-satellite.com/SONY_CNPSON1_XM_Direct_2_Tuner.aspx  It has everything you need

Enjoy

I have a portable Sirius XM that plays in either car ,home, boom box or boat .

All I have to is set it to a specified FM frequency  and it plays through the radio ,At home it is hard wired or on the boat you could use  the ( I think )  2.5 jack on the front .

I purchased a lifetime subscription about 9 years ago and have been happy with it ever since .

I wasn't crazy over Siris XM on my other boat and so on the Benny we play ITunes or Pandora

I have this same kit on the way. Where did you mount the antenna and how's your reception? I read that the antenna should be mounted on a metal surface or reception may be degraded. I was planning on mounting it on top of the console, which is fiberglass. Any guidance appreciated.

I wish I got a better cell signal where we normally stay on the lake. I like Pandora, but I only get 1-2 bars on my IPhone so that is out. Other than carrying a bunch of CD's, I guess my only choice is Sirius/XM.

Master I got a xm marine antenna and mounted it on the flat area to the right of the windshield. The regular antennas need a large metal surface to mount to and work properly. With the xm marine antenna I get excellent reception
