You guys did fine getting in and out of the docks. It took us half the first season to really get the hang of getting back into our dock at river run. It just takes a little time to get used to how your boat handles at slow speed,,,,,don't be afraid to back up and try it again if something doesn't look right.
The anchoring part is a bit tougher. What kind of anchors do you have and where are you trying to anchor up?
What works for us when it comes to anchoring up.
Sandbar = pvc screw in sand anchor works best (can be made for less than $20) or the danforth (a little tricky to get set sometimes)
Lake in general = danforth or navy anchor with a small mushroom of the stern to control sway.
