I have been looking at grills for on the boat. I have seen different styles which mount on the rail and hang over the water " which I like" and ones the need a floor mount and is on a pole. My concern with the ones that mount to the rail and hangs over is will it bend my railing. What do you use on your boats for grilling on the water.
I dug that setup, but it was a pain trailering and taking it on and off. Scuffed up the railing a bit but not bad. It didn't bend it at all. Oh, and that grill is awesome. Now I just put it in the bag and bring it camping on the boat and then leave it on the beach. I was thinking about mounting it on the new boat but there just isn't any good rail space like on my 22 SSX.
We'll be mounting the Magma Chefsmate on the aft galley table (just bought the SPDX!!). Where do you store the grill after? We'll have a dock and I'm going to try and be diligent about putting the cover on every time.
Thinking about buying the cover for it so it doesn't scuff up anything on the boat when not in use, but is it really worth it or should I just get a large canvas bag for it... Not sure how this is going to go yet...
I have a Magma grill as well and mount it on the stern starboard side. I wish I would have bought the next size larger but man those suckers are so expensive. All in all I absolutely love having it mounted there. You are not supposed to be moving/running the mount when it's mounted though.
Depends on what you're cooking. Since I've given up red meat I usually cook chicken or pork, turkey dogs if I'm feeling lazy, and last week it was shrimp kabobs. None of those splatter compared to hamburgers. The worst thing to cook is the 30% fat hamburger or brats. If you're making burgers use lean ground beef. Better for your heart, better for your boat.
I get out of work at 4pm. Wife is already home to help me put the boat in after that. Will take her and our 3 1/2 year old twins out on it. Cannot WAIT.
