The rail is an option if you want to have passengers on the rear seat in the swingback position while under way. My dealer told me the lake cops by me don't give tickets for folks riding back there without a rail but I don't plan to with ours unless we are doing a lake crawl. Too many things can happen. It's great for lounging when anchored.

We ordered the railing on our swingback. The dealer said we were the only ones to order. None of their showroom boats were ordered with it as they were unsure if folks would want to spend another $750.
I told Mrs. Salad that she couldn't ride back there without it. I am that anal that I wouldn't want to not have it even if we didn't ride back there. We are of an age we are wanting grandchildren and wanted the extra safety.
