Best Anchor

The Original Slide Anchor Box works MUCH better than imitations - the small savings just not worth it! I store mine in collapsed mode, using a canvas wood tote. I have both the Regular and Baby, and often need both when windy.

Another vote here for the box anchor. We were hanging out in the most popular cove on our lake for an event and tied up with 5 other pontoons. Only one of them had an anchor out. I offered to deploy my small size box anchor but was told it wasn't necessary. Eventually 4 or 5 more boats joined on the other side of me. The whole line started dragging parallel to shore because of the wind and that was a problem because there were more than 100 boats beached and tied up around us. I swam my box anchor out to the end of its 50 line and dropped it into about 15 feet of water. That held our position. Some of the original boats left and eventually I realized I was the only one in a line of 10 boats with an anchor out. It held us all with winds of about 5 to 7 mph.

Someone commented their box anchor is hard to fold or re-assemble. Mine is a little tight, too. If you're heading to a party like we were, I highly recommend you plan ahead and get the anchor out, assembled and ready to put into the water. You don't want to be putzing around with it while drifting in tight quarters with a bunch of boats.

And LaurencetheAdeventurer, thanks for the suggestion on the firewood tote to store it. It is indeed a game changer.
