What is the best bird deterrent that you have tried so that birds don't hang on your boat and use it as a bathroom when it is docked. I live in Florida. Thank you.

This has been asked many times, with just as many suggestions ,from firearms to plastic spikes .

Do a search in the upper right corner

I use a combination of the Dori Poles (tall flag poles in pictures) over boat and jet ski and banner “flag” string along dock lights to keep ALL the water foul off the boat AND the dock. We have since extended it along our lakeside sea wall. Works like a charm. Deters all our unwelcome feathered visitors.

But Jack is right! Search in the upper right hand corner on topics. Many of your question threads have been extremely well covered over the years so you can see so many ideas. AND…then ask if you have follow up questions in those existing threads. Just stream lines it all.

That said, you have great questions. Always exciting with a new boat, but there’s sooooo much to learn, take in, etc… Someday when set, I know we’d all love to admire that new boat of yours if you care to share any pictures of it.

We put up a Dori Pole 8 years ago to stop a large bird from landing on the closed Bimini and leaving crap everywhere under the Bimini. It works great. The flag wore out and we bought a new flag and use the same pole. Only downside was the boat 2 slips down now has the bird crap on his boat. I told him how to fix the issue.

We use plastic spikes held on with ball bungees on the Bimini. Works great …. till this past week or two one flipped and the heron decided that was his landing spot. Big pile of heron mess to clean up. First time in years.

Bird-B-gone with the weighted sandbag works. The birds don’t like the long strands bouncing around. Started with the 3 foot and moved to the 6 footer. I keep my boat covered because they still fly by and will briefly land occasionally. Birds and spiders are a nuisance.

Bobby, would you mind posting a picture?

BTW, you know that you just linked this thread to another infamous one, right?? :p

Sure Here's a picture with a pair mounted to the sand bags they sell. The largest size is 8 feet wide.
Never seen these. Interesting product option.

People on the lake turned me on to them. I use on my raft and it keeps the ducks on the edges instead of taking over the entire raft. It will keep them off as far as it reaches.

When we kept our boat on a lift we used a combination of plastic owls and rubber snakes. They worked for a while but the birds got smart!

The birds seem to know what’s real after a while. That’s why the wires work. They don’t want to be to be bothered.

Absolutely agree that birds realize after a while. One of the rich guys on our lake had a sophisticated sound system I installed that once triggered by motion blasted a bird in distress sound as well as shot gun sound. Worked great for a month
