Looking for feedback on the best anchor winch to mount to the front of my Bennington. I have a 24ft LX, but expect to be trading up to a bigger boat soon. With kids all off to college+, I'd like to be able to deploy an anchor remotely and retrieve it remotely (switch by the helm). I see a few Minn Kota DH40s on the dock, but really don't love the look of an anchor winch on top of the deck. I have researched the Lewmar Venta, which mounts underneath, but don't know anyone who has used/owned one.

Anyone have experience with either of these anchor winches, or others, that they would heartily recommend?

FYI - I will not be installing this myself, just don't have time. But I will service and/or take care of it.

Currently using a 25lb box anchor from West Marine with 6 feet of G4 and 150ft of 1/2 anchor rode. Normally anchor in 30ish feet, mostly muddy bottom (but have lost 2 anchors in downed trees, I think). And we often tie up with others, so I do like to "over-anchor!"

Thanks in advance for any help!! Jay

I have never seen a Anchor Winch that can support a TriToon on a windy day. They don't work with Box Anchors - though I imagine you could configure it to let it down and bring it up if you are willing to connect / detach each use. I often use two box achors, have lost about 6 to tree stumps - tried using a cheaper Amazon brand, but the original slide anchor brand - it just operates smoother. But, the real game changer is using a Canvas Wood tote - stores the Rode and Anchor plus gloves, and makes moving it around the boat MUCH easier - both store nicely under the large seat cushion. During weekends, I leave it on the bow.
