I am enjoying my new Bennington but:
When the top is folded down I have the interference shown in this picture. It seems like the bottom bracket should be wide enough to except the top piece falling in but it doesn’t. Am I doing something wrong this is my first attempt?

The short leg clips into that bracket on the rail. The upper bracket is not meant to go into the lower bracket

I'm not sure it should be folded that far down since it will not be supported/secured. I've always "secured" mine by using the shortest strut that can bee seen folded under in the image above

Thanks guys, I could see that the short leg works, but I really like the lower position of no leg. Thanks for helping me understand the problem.
I'll look at it again and may make a modification.

My 2004 2275 RL never had a "trailer" strut and it used to just sit on the bracket just like yours. I used to put a piece of foam rubber in between.......

Right, seems that at least the brackets would be offset so it would lay flat. Please post if you find a modification that works.

If it lays flat ,chances are it will rest on your furniture .
Ahhh, right, excellent point. Though, sometimes nice if sunning to have open sky. But I could see the issue when moving with rubbing!! Thank you.

There is also the possibility of putting an indentation in your furniture

I decided to lower the Bimini in its down position. It doesn’t touch my seats when down. Here’s a picture of my shortened strut which I will use until I get a better idea. C53940A4-84F3-4646-BB0E-EB1D9E8C7C8B.jpegB01EC354-E775-4E59-8FE9-F51790F5AD60.jpeg

Would like to see a picture of the new set up

Some of you guys wanted to see the finished product. I took a few pics this afternoon. On the overall picture I tied a rope around the folded bimini just to show how much clearance I still have below. I am going to try this set up for a while and then see if maybe I can drop it on down with a different design altogether.
