Was out and about yesterday and noticed that our boat speedometer was pretty sporadic compared to the GPS. Sometimes it would be in sync and other times in would be 2 or 3 mph off. We had the speedometer cable pick up tube replaced a few years ago.  (It was actually bringing water into the bilge area.) Is there any maintenance that can be done like greasing, cleaning, or clearing that would possibly make it more accurate?!?

Our speedo has never been correct so I just stopped looking at it.

What kind of speedo is it? Spinning wheel, whatever the proper term is, or something else?

I must have the fastest pontoon on LC.  My speedo reads 63 mph all the time. I used the phone speedo until i knew the speed at several rpm's and then never worried about it since.

I would recommend blowing it out. Sometimes debris can lodge inside of it, causing it to malfunction or just stop working.

This is why I love my 53DV. Those pitot tubes are pretty innacurate ......

Yes, but mine came with everything (but I had to buy the wiring extension). Took me about 1-1/2 hours to install "on the water". Lickily it "almost" fit in my Garmin 95 hole in the dash. I had to open it up about 1/4" in top corners. Used my Leatherman all in one saw to do it.
