Anyone have any boating magazines they really enjoy that you think others on the forum might enjoy too?  I just subscribed to a few myself, and am curious if anyone else gets any?

I subscribed to Boating magazine, Pontoon and Deck Boat magazine, and finally Great Lakes Boating magazine.  None of them were particularly expensive. I have no plans to boat the Great Lakes, but I got that last magazine nearly for free for subscribing to PDB magazine, so hey, why not.

Let us know if you have other boating and pontoon related reading recommendations.

I use to get PDB. I really need to renew that. I used to get Boating too, but I couldn't relate to most of the stuff in there.

PDB for me.

I have always subscribed to PDB.  Excited when it comes in the mail but have to admit IMO there is a lot of Fluff and also IMO if you advertise a lot in their magazine they rave over those companies.  BTW Bennington does not seem to advertise much in that magazine yet PDB still always speaks of them top quality

PDB has been my magazine of choice. I have been a Bennington fan since the company was started. In the early days I recall they advertised more ,then word of mouth from satisfied customers took over.

Used to subscribe to PDB magazine but let it lapse. Also belong to their forum but it's been a while since I've been on......

I think if you've been featured in the magazine you should get a lifetime subscription! Ha! Right Carl?!?

They're doing a military tribute in the June or July issue. I'll be in that as well.  :)

Great! Now I'll have to subscribe again!

Check out Cruising Outpost magazine.  I don't have a subscription, but I have picked them up off newstands a couple times.  They are more about "adventure boating", as in leaving home on your boat for weeks at a time, cruising the islands where ever that may be.  Nothing in them about pontoon boats specifically, but good stories about people who decide to cast off and not come back for a while.  Lots of ocean pics and partying pics.  I keep expecting to see Link show up in one.

If you are looking for some good boating/adventure books (not magazines) to read, this series by Ed Robinson is awesome.  I see there are 8 of them now.  Glad you started this thread or I wouldn't have known there were two more that just came out that I haven't read yet.  I've read the first 6.  Each one was VERY hard to put down!  If you like boats (obviously you all do) and have a little Huck Finn in your blood, you'll love these.

Anyone else read any of these?

Oh, and the TV series "Wicked Tuna" feeds my boating appetite and gets me through the winter.  They are on a cable/satellite channel.  Nat Geo maybe.

I have subscribed to them all at one time or another.  As mentioned above, most of the stuff I read does not apply to my tastes, needs, and wants.  PDB is a ton of fluff.  I subscribe to it now, but it was only like $8.  Good pictures, but not much meat in the writing.  And yes, they don't want to piss off the builders, as advertising revenue drives the boat.  I understand why they all do it, but not much good for critical analysis of different brands.

I'm just about to end all print subscriptions.  Too much info on the web to pay for it and get it only once a month.

Just subscribed to Houseboat and got PDB for half price. It's funny cause if I'd have ordered PDB first I would have got Housebaoat at 50% off and paid more??? $27 vs $23. Go figure.
