So a little puppy we got a year ago, has turned into a 95 pound beast. Our last couple dogs were decent size but still manageable for me to pick ‘em up and onto the pontoon. I’m older, and he’s bigger, so not this one. Anyway, was wondering if anyone has found a good ramp that can be used for dog to get up and into the boat….mostly will be from a sand bar.

A ramp, ANY ramp, when not in use will have to be STORED somewhere on the boat. Some Bennies have center toon storage that is long enough to handle some fairly long length components/items, and some don't. The ones that don't have that kind of storage, may have to display that ramp some place out in the open which, some might find unsightly. You'll have to take all this into consideration. Good ole Harbor Freight has a basic selection of "ramps" for use in multiple circumstances and scenarios. Mostly their ramps are for heavier applications like motorcycles, lawn tractor/mowers and side x sides. But, a small-ish, light-ish 8"-10" wide by say, about 6' or so should do the job for you. They typically have a form of a "duck bill" type lip on them that would primarily lay on the deck of the boat so as to not slip off while a load (your 95 lb "beast") is traversing up or down. And, if it doesn't come with it, some *non-skid* sticky back material can be applied if need be.

One or two of their ramps may be foldable too but, you'll have to investigate.

We have the 'small' version of this for our 11 pound dog. She can do it all by herself. They come in a few different sizes and deflate and fit under a seat while not in use.

When we had our son's Lab on the boat she would swim to the ladder and we would help her up by just grabbing the built in handle on the top of her swim vest. After awhile she would just go up the ladder herself!Screenshot_20250617-072435.png

OK, ours is a lab, I didn’t think he was coordinated enough to use the ladder. We’ll do a few training lessons to see if the ladder will work for him. Thanks for sharing!

thanks for this. If ladder training does not work I might try this as an option. Deflating gets rid of my storage issue.

yep, i actually keep mine inflated and store in under the swing back, but, it's very quick to inflate.

THIS is why I suggested the style and types of RAMPS I suggested. You really didn't mention the pups needing to get out of the water onto the back of the boat.

Yes, I got that. Storage is an issue, but not impossible. No pups, just a 95 lb Lab. If I can get him doing the ladder I’d be really happy. If not the ladder then the inflatable or ramps are my options. Thanks.
 
We installed the Lillipad ladder to help all our older friends and us. It is amazing. I have read that it works well for dogs. No actual experience but that is what I have read.

I second this! Our German Shepherd is 100 lbs, we have the X-large pup plank and has no problems.
 
I have read several users with the new Lilliepad ladder adding a high-density step cover on the top step, helping our 4-legged friends with additional grip.
