Drill Table Mounting Flange?

I spent a couple of hours yesterday fishing in the rain in my SV20. I have the table and post removed, and I noticed that the flange socket has a couple of inches of water standing in it. Is it ok to drill a small weep hole to prevent this? I wonder why Bennington didn't do it, must be a reason.

Bennington installs what the manufacturer provides. Any modifications on their part could make them liable if it failed. Personally, yeah I’d just drill a small weep hole.
