So I've noticed my boat is not hitting the low 40's like it did last summer. When my boat was torn down to the cross members over the winter could the controls be out of tune and need adjustment? We had 4 on the boat Saturday and I was barely hitting 39 and was only at 5600 rpm. Even when it is the wife and I I haven't seen 43 again yet this year.

I remeber having 8 people on the boat last year and still able to hit 38-40. Can't remember rpm's but 5600 seems low. My 115 would spin 6200 rpm.

I looked in the manual and did not see an adjustment at the control lever. I guess the next step would be to pop the cowling and check there.

Thoughts?

You should be able to find the throttle body and see if it opens to the stop.

Lakeliving the year I got my boat I did 28mph by the second year I was only able to hit 26 and that was when it first went into the water after a good spring cleaning of the toons.  I have been holding at 26 since until I added the express toon and went up a little more

I was under the impression they break in and get looser. HHmmmm.

It was 66 Saturday but I see where you are coming from. I'll take the boat out by myself and see what it will so with no load. I never go all out for more than a minute or two but I it did catch my eye that the RPM's were a little low.

You don't have a cup holder in front of the throttle do you???? Hehe

Alright BC, now you're being a poop

Wow, no one is taking the bait? Well then I too shall take the high road.

We've all been out on our boats for months down here Derrick so our twisted minds of winter have mellowed. ;)

Someday I'll get out on my boat, someday.

Canada day is coming. We will be on the water on 7/4. I hope you beat me to Canadian water

So I took the boat out solo this weekend for a quick lap and hit 43.8 mph and I have two questions.

  1. Can I round that up to 44? :D
  2. I notice a little discoloration of some slight buildup caused from just floating while on the lake, you cannot feel it though (The boat is on a lift when not in use). I know scotchbrite type pads are the tool of choice but is this Bennington's suggestion? Or just what works the best? I was about to jump in and do the logs when my wife asked "What does Bennington say to do?"
I couldn't find my owners manual so does anyone know what the official stance is from Bennington for log care? My wife likes to go exactly by the book.
