We wanted to see the fireworks shot off from Trump National Country Club here on Lake Norman. So we took the boat out for the 1st time at night and had an enjoyable experience. There were hundreds of boats there and as soon as the show was over they all got out of dodge quickly! My wife made sure that nobody came too close to us. She was a wreck! Did the same tonight, just getting back now, had to stop off for a night cap once we docked the boat, happens to be a bar right there. A little cool here, 54, but was clear and flat as glass. Love these nights!!

Glad you guys were able to experience it. It will get better for the wife. Give her a couple of times.

We spent 3 of the 4 evenings on the boat, this long weekend. Saturday, we were caught in a terrible storm, again, so we had to work hard to keep her off of the rocks, but managed. July 3rd and 4th were beautiful, and enjoyed every minute.

No pictures showing up just a boxes that say "update your account" with a photo bucket web address at the bottom. Not sure if they show up in the quote

Looks like you had a blast! Glad no one hit the boat!

On a side note. If Photobucket wasn't able to make a profit with the absurd amount of ads on their site before they will quickly go under now with this latest bs move.

We took ours out with friends for the first time at night for fireworks on July 3rd.  Lots of boats, but it went very smoothly.  I was very nervous, but once out there, it went great. Docking on my covered lift went fairly smoothly too - that was a big sigh of relief on my part.

The funny thing is we've never used the navigation or anchor lights for any extended period of time so we weren't sure how long we were able to sit out there for a fireworks show before the battery was drained enough to be too weak to start the engine. Our I/O only has 1 battery. I never got another battery jump pack after the other one died from non use. Just to be safe I started the engine up every 20 minutes or so and let it run for a few.........

Welcome to the evening /night boaters. As I've said before on previous topics,it's absolutely the best time to be on the boat. Here's to getting more comfortable at night boating Big K. The more you cruise at night, the more you'll love it.As far as nav and anchor lights go, change the old bulbs to led bulbs. They use so little energy that they would take weeks to drain a good battery. Radio is another story.

There's nothing like star gazing on the dark water! And could possibly add more activities to the bucket list too.

Not updating Photobucket. I'll find another way to post pics. :(

Completely jealous! We watched from a friends cottage along Heightsview Drive (just to the left of the fireworks). We've been out there a few times but quit after nearly getting run over by a fellow boater. It really upset my wife! Me? No harm, no foul...

Same with us. Had 2 close calls when apparently 2 boats didn't see us. My wife hit 'em with the flashlight and they quickly turned away......

This is a big part of my worries.  However, it was smooth sailing.  Only one yahoo on a jet ski (big surprise) came flying into the general area.  They were quickly approached by water cops.  Otherwise, it was a lot of people coming in calmly, cautiously, and just ankoring/drifting and enjoying.

Since this is cruising at night, I'll add this. I'm looking forward to what I'm hoping will be an annual event with my wife and I. Every year, our Sunday School class has a silent auction to raise money to help send our youth to summer camp. Well this year, my wife and I offered to auction off a "sunset cruise" to the highest bidder. We've only been members of this church for a year and a half, so we were new to the auction last year. Anyway, we got some takers and will be cruising The Rez with the winners, tomorrow evening. We'll be starting the evening about 5:00 PM, with a BBQ dinner (I'll be smoking a Boston butt all day), then get on the boat around 6:30ish, and cruise until after sunset. The couple is really excited about it, and I'm hoping they will talk it up, and make it more and more popular in the years to come. I believe they should feel that they got their money's worth when the evening is done.

Sounds like a terrific evening! I remember you mentioning this previously so glad it's actually happening. Some people just don't know what they're missing by not owning a boat.

I watched the Trump fireworks from the dock. I am not much of a nighttime boater. I may give it a try with this boat as I have never had docking lights or gps on the boat.

I don't think it will be on a big night like fireworks. Did that 2 years ago for the Queens's Landing. I felt like "Frogger" trying to get across the main channel that get back into our cove.

We had an enjoyable evening but my wife was on pins and needles watching out for other boats. It was amazing how many boats didn't anchor and just drifted around. As soon as the show ended all the boats were like cockroaches and just scattered. Ha!

It had to be at least a $1000 opening bid for a Barbecue Butt dinner on a Benny!!!

In stead if taking their time, it is like the start of the Charlotte 600 race.

You know where our cove is........We just came out turned left towards the Point about 1000 yds. and anchored by that little island. Very simple.....
