First time ever out at night.......

We spent last 4th on Lake Webster in IN., my neighbor has a place on Backwater Lake.  The smaller boats can go through the culvert from one to the other, I had to trailer over.  Afterwards, they all went back and left me alone to head back to the ramp where my neighbor was going to bring the truck back over.  It quickly dawned on me I didn't know where to get back to, never been on this lake at all, let alone at night.  Luckily, I had filled up before we took out, found my receipt with an address, entered that into my phone and found my way back just in time to see my truck pulling up to the ramp.  I had not yet messed with my Lowrance so it wasn't set up to track my position. /monthly_2016_08/large.57a271779ee1c_20160702_2138551.jpg.861e2fe9be888083beca9ebacaab61b6.jpg

Smart thinking!

We never ventured out at night with our old boat but after we bought the benny we've been out several times.  It's relaxing just putting around enjoying the sunset and then just riding around looking at the stars.

For the first time we ventured out for the july 4th fireworks.....went about 1/4 the way across the lake (first time remember) and it was pretty awesome.  We picked a spot away from channel traffic and out in the open bit not way out.  Dropped the anchors and kicked back and relaxed for an hour or so before the show.  After the fireworks were over it looked like a traffic jam out on the lake.....everyone lined up and followed each other back to the ramp/docks like they didn't know how to find their way back.  We pulled the anchors just in case an evasive action was required to avoid a collision.

Since there was a traffic jam not only out on the streets surrounding the lake but a boat jam out on the water we decided to ride around a while and enjoy the other fireworks shows from the houses around the lake....pretty impressive shows actually.  Fireworks at 10 + evening cruise meant we didn't make it back into our docks till well after midnight.

Nice pics!!!

We went out on the 4th also with 8 on board. Probably out 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. All went well, but after back at our dock and turning off the breakers I noticed they were pretty darn hot. Never thought about the battery going down, but will try to remember in the future to start the engine periodically.

I also need to remember to bring a better camera next time.

Cheers

All went well, but after back at our dock and turning off the breakers I noticed they were pretty darn hot.

Our switches (not the little black buttons....aka breakers) get hot but I think it's more from being lit up not from the current draw on them.  We have the led dock lights as well as nav lights up front (stainless housings) but the anchor light is a standard small automotive bulb.  After sitting with the nav lights and radio on for a couple of hours we had no issues with starting.  Now that I think of it we have been at the sandbar for hours with the radio on and had no issues either.
