Flashing Hour Glass

Just curious if the “flashing” hour glass symbol inside the RPM gauge indicates anything other than a measure of time? It is flashing on and off. Thanks.

I believe it flashes when the engine is running, adding to the engine hour meter.

If you have that style gage they all flash. Its counting motor run time, as Todd said
