2016 SX has had fuel fill problem since new. Had to dealer and just give me a different funnel. Have tried many different approaches to resolve problem.
I have worked on it recently and found the vent line from fill port to tank is blocked. Dealer says that not possible! They have had it 2 times to fix now it is out of warranty
So they will charge by the hour to repair.
Can someone till how much difficulty to get to underside of floor or how the pontoon is attached under the fuel fill port?

Welcome. Do you have the 10 warranty on a 2016 ? Or that started in 2017 ?

10 year warranty started in 2017. My boat is a 2017 model year but it was delivered in Sep 2016 and it didn't even come with the 10 year warranty.

7 year warranty. the dealer I bought it from sold to a bigger dealership. Upgrading possible if I can get this issue fixed. It will not be from them it most likley will not be a Bennington. Service department is not very friendly.

That's too bad. Good Luck!

I can tell you what might be helpful based on what little information you have have supplied. Fuel fill problems are probably the most common unresolved problem that shows up on side fill boats. The EPA in order to reduce emissions has required systems to prevent overfilling and in addition, filter cans on the tank vent. Failure of the overfill system can create splash back that might plug the filter can. The overfill system is fragile and sensitive to manufacturing variation. If the line that runs to the tank from the filler is restricted the gas filler nozzle will click off prematurely. Common restrictions might be a kink or fuel trapped in a low spot. You do not have remove the whole pontoon tube to get at the line. You will have to remove the under-deck sheet that protects the line. You may have to remove the seat (that is easier than you would think). Hopefully this information will help others.

Here is the data I have compiled on the topic. My issue happen when it get's hot out - over 100. I can flip the fill nozzle, that has actually solved the issue for me, when combined with a slightly slower filled rate. It does require that I hold the nozzle and trigger.

Thank you for your response. In have changed the fuel filler.
After changing all that and still takes 20 minutes to put 20 gallons in tank so it does not puke gas back on the side of too and in my face.
I had an air tank and blew thru the lines found the vent hose to tank is pinched between floor and tank.
Have to get on trailer to see if I can get to line from under pontoon.
It is a real pain to have had this in different dealers and they could not find the problem.
I have ask dealer if they could tell me how the underside between tank and floor where vent and fuel line go from filler. They are not sure how the line runs. They could not find it when it was under warranty ! They want me to pay full shop rate.
Going to see for myself when I get it on trailer.
Service after the sale gets more sells!

Good luck, I can't speak to your situation but sounds like you are on the right track. If the tank can't vent when filling you're going to have these issues.

I have a 52g tank set into my center toon with access panels and it seems to have plenty of room for all of the accompanying vent hoses and EPA canister. My guess is in smaller/tighter installs the probability of a kinked line goes up. I know none of that helps but still hoping you get it resolved!

Have you tried reaching out to Bennington direct and seeing if they provide any goodwill help?

Well I proved today it was the vent from tank. Took vent hose off of tank left open while filling tank.
Never spilled a drop of gas on my pontoon or Me. Put 20 gallon in less than 10 minutes. What a relief !
Thanks for the responses.
If anyone from Bennington reads this it should be a recall on these problems with gas splash in peoples faces is seriously dangerous. I have videos I showed the dealer I will never use again the service manager smiled and give me a little white funnel and said this will fix the problem. I called him back but he never returned call this was in 2018. I have lived with this since new .
Terrible service department I will fix this my way.

Wow, that is frustrating but glad you have an answer. Is the fix just to replace the vent on the tank?

YAY! It certainly would help us all if you shared the details of the issue (kinked vent line, blocked, the way it is hooked into the EPA system, the EPA system, ??) and how you solved it (new vent line, just fixed the kink, hooked up differently, capped the vent line, ??). This has been a long-standing problem for so many! Thank you for taking the time to dig in and explore the issue.
