This maybe trivial but when I siphon the gas from my tank to the inlet I always get a backflow because I believe the hose doesn't fit tight enough. And so I'm curious if anyone else has this problem or if they have another solution.

Are you using the super siphon? I've used one on port fill and now direct fill . I have not had any issues. The hose was not tight on either.

What do you mean by direct fill. I did use the Super siphon and worked but needed to use a steady hold at the port fill.

Here is a pic of the direct fill . Its in the floor in front of the motor . Its a no cost option on some models .
