I was warming my Yamaha 150 up to get oil warm so I could service it. Engine was running about 5 min. Started to hear a buzzer and went up top to see about it. It was coming out of the dash but no lights on. Don't have a temp gauge. Didn't see anything. Anybody know what the buzzer is all about?? Steady Buzz, not a beeping sound.

Did you have a stream from the pee hole ?

I will share my experience with a steady high pitch alarm sound and overheating. The only time I have heard that sound was from overheating due to weeds and/or water pump failure. During oil change service (out of the water with ear muffs) my Yamahas take a couple of minutes to start peeing. I have expected the alarms to off but they have not. When the peeing starts it looks like a old man peeing (I should know). When water pumps fail due to some impeller blades breaking water will dribble out at medium engine speed. You can usually limp home. When all the blades fail and you are dead in the water it is usually from doing something stupid.

I just serviced this engine, engine oil change and filter, plugs, fuel filter, all new anodes, new water pump with new housing and all new parts, and changed the oil in the foot. My kit came with a new thermostat and gasket. It was the last thing I did to the engine. When I removed the thermostat, I found why my alarm was going off. The thermostat was completely corroded and couldn't move. I cleaned the base out of all corrosion and installed new thermo and gasket. ran it for 1/2 hour. No alarm. Cool Beans.

Not trying to be a wise guy . Were you offered a test drive before purchase?
