The power to my helm (horn, radio, gps) occasionally doesn’t come on when you turn the helm power switch on. Sometimes I can flip the switch back and fourth to get it to work or sometimes it will come on after starting the motor and leaving the dock. I thought I would start by replacing that switch but I’m having trouble finding the exact switch replacement. Local dealer so far has sent me home with two different switches that don’t fit the opening. Anyone know where I can go or who I can call to get that switch replaced? 2018 Bennington 23 R Swing Back

Thanks,
Curt Petersen

If you take the switch out there is probably a part number on it. It's probably made by Carling.

Then check with New Wire Marine or bring the switch to your dealer to get a direct match.

Remember to take several pictures from different angles before disconnecting any wires so you can get the wiring correct with your new switch.

If you are the original owner ,it should be covered under the 10 year warranty .

You are probably right about being covered under the 10 year warranty but who wants to take their boat out of the water in the middle of summer for the marina to have it for a couple weeks. If I could find the exact switch I would just pay for it and replace it myself so I didn’t have the downtime. I could have them possibly replace it in the fall when I have it winterized but we leave for Florida November 12th and I would need to get it into storage before that. The two switches the marina sent me home with to try weren’t the right size for the opening.

As I suggested, did you take out the switch and look for a part number?

Yeah, I did this evening. A friend of mine helped me but of course it didn’t act up when he was here. It is a Carling Technogies switch part number V1B1. I tried looking up that switch number with New Wire Marine and they didn’t appear to have that same exact model number. They had a V1D1 that looked similar with a light but V1B1 did not come up in the search. My friend (who is a lot more knowledgeable about electrical than I am) thought it could be the switch or the relay but because it wasn’t acting up when he checked it, it was hard to tell. He had a relay so we tried changing that out first to see if that solves the problem. Thank you for your help. Does that seem like we are on the right track?

Yes, I think you're on the right track. I would call New Wire Marine. They deal with this stuff every day. I would offer to send pictures to them if needed.
