Helm seat removal??

In have a R25 and need to remove the captions chair. What is the trick to get it off the pedestal?

On mine if you loosen the big black knob that tightens the swivel the seat will just pull up and off. The pedestal removal is a big/hard deal.

And once you get the seat off, clean up the mating surfaces and lube them with Vaseline. Makes them turn super silky and lasts a long time. Grease would probably work too, but the risk of it melting and making a mess are the concern.

Over the years I've found Vaseline to be the best lubricant for door hinges. Better that silicone, WD40 or anything else I tried.

Snap lube works also. I use it on hinges and the snaps.
