And once you get the seat off, clean up the mating surfaces and lube them with Vaseline. Makes them turn super silky and lasts a long time. Grease would probably work too, but the risk of it melting and making a mess are the concern.
Over the years I've found Vaseline to be the best lubricant for door hinges. Better that silicone, WD40 or anything else I tried.
