Hi, new to the forum. I have been to the Toronto boat show and am almost ready to purchase my first pontoon ( after sevreal years of an old 21' bow rider) and Bennington is my first choice. Would love some advice .
Looking at an 18ft Gl with yamaha 70hp. (wanted a 20ft but my boat slip is too small).
Does anyone have experience or advice about speed and comfortable cruising speed.
also am on lake Muskoka, very large lake and often busy, how will and 18ft fair in terms riding larger waves and wake from other boats?
I have a 10'6" wide slip in a very quiet bay, is that enough width to comfortably dock ?
and finally what do folks think are the "must have upgrades", not for bling but really add value to the overall ride.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated as this is a big purchase for me.
Excited but nervous about getting the right boat
Thanks

I’d say get 25” tubes and under deck wave shield. More buoyancy and eliminate surging from water hitting crossmembers. Personally I like seagrass and elevated helm for interior amenities.

The boat will fit in a 10'6" wide slip. I don't understand that the slip is too small for a 20' length boat. Our 25' boat sticks out past the pier by at least 4', we have learned how to tie it off.

For a very large lake that is often busy you're going to want another 5' of boat, and at least 3 times the power.

I agree with the above answers. My boat also juts out about 4' from the end of the fingers of my dock. Tying it up is not a problem. A larger heavier boat will ride much smoother on a large lake with waves. I would also suggest at least 150HP so the boat wont slog down when another couple joins you. I like the elevated helm like SemperFi for seeing but love it for its look. Don't know why this isn't the standard helm on all Benningtons

Extended Aft. Yeah not sure why you think the boat has to "fit" in the slip, I have a 22' and just tie it off to the shorter dock.

Welcome ! As we say on this Forum "Buy your last Bennington first" So do you have a lift ? I would go 22' and at least a 90 h.p. We also like to spend other members $$$ Keep us posted.
