Spent this afternoon swimming/floating off of our dock on this gorgeous day! Too many boats out! This is Cocktail Cove on the 18th hole of Trump National on Lake Norman..... IMG_20220702_163231387.jpgIMG_20220702_163221191.jpg

Wow, that's a busy cove. If the name fits what goes on, and I'm sure it does, I would leave the boat docked and swim too! We did go by boat to a fireworks show tonight that probably had a couple of hundred boats attending. It was a great show, but I was glad to get back to the boathouse.

The water this weekend is like a bar on St. Patricks Day, amateur hour. We do go out, but I act just like when I am on my motorcycle, I assume everyone is out to kill me.
+1 on amateur hour comment. It’s been a bit crazy out there. Fireworks tonight and I had to pass because too many of them out on a dark lake. They don’t know what they are doing in the daylight!

When we first moved here 7 yrs. ago we went about a thousand yards outside of our cove to see the fireworks. When the show ended everybody was scurrying around like cockroaches! We almost got hit 2 times! Haven't been since!

We anchored on the outer edge of everyone and didn't have much problem getting out. It was the nuts going way too fast for nighttime that had my head on a swivel.

We got out on the boat for fireworks last night on our lake. Wasn’t too bad at all. I don’t do much night boating, but it was the perfect night for it.

We avoided going out yesterday and today. I don't know if we can resist Monday or not. If we go, it's going to be on Kerr Lake. 80 square miles and by far the biggest lake around these parts. About 75 minutes from home. We figure more room might help out a little. Last night we chose to go to South Boston, Va. for the car race. Biggest crowd I've ever seen there in decades of going. We sat in front of a couple that live on Kerr Lake. And they said yesterday midday boats looked like hair on a dogs back on Kerr. So we may not go out Monday either. So much for gas prices and a bad economy holding people back. Lol

Went out today, all the morons are out in full force.

Wake surfers and your boats, can’t wait until it’s prohibited. The amount of wake caused by these boats blows my mind.

We’re going out tomorrow night for the local fireworks.
Went to the fireworks show at Trump National tonight. Perfect night after having thunderstorms around 500p. Best thing is we drove and left the boat home!

Our local fireworks were on the 2nd . They started late ,11:05 due to wind ,they had a hard time securing the barge .Then the barge caught fire . There are videos but most are private . If I can find a public one Ill post it .( we did not attend )

Link, the boat is actually 1 big cove away from where they launched the fireworks from the driving range of the country club. It would have been an easy 10 minute ride to the cove where the hundreds of other boats were anchored. It's just so much easier, less hassle and no headaches just to pull up in our car, watch the fireworks then go home! Did I mention the hundreds of boats and it was dark?!? Ha!
