Ok I’m gonna vent and then I’m gonna shut up. This stupid plastic ring around my Galley is all cracked and it holds the door on so because it’s broken the door is all sideways and ghetto. I’m kicking my self that I didn’t pay the $80 for a new one years ago. Because now with a Million things to do b4 boating season I gotta remake this stupid plastic trim ring. I was told that Bennington subcontracted out the manufacturing of these Galleys and Helms to a third party company and they are no longer in business and this stupid cheap plastic vacuum formed ring is no longer available.. OK without out of the way I’ll get started on this. If anyone has a link or somehow the ability to get a new Spair one please chime in. UNTILL then if fiberglass season here!

You are in deep. Relative to common time expectations it probably feels like you went backwards. Many people on the internet feel that everything can be done quick and simple. This molding serves as a hinge support and stop for a curved door. Functionally complex. Difficult to build from scratch. Repairing this cheap trim piece is a big project. Give yourself some slack. Looks like it requires the console to keep it in alignment during structural repair. You did that right. Remove and add structure to the back side. I would use auto body filler to create a smooth finish over the glass mat. To finish use spray can touch up paint that you buy at the auto parts store. If you cannot match paint use a contrasting color. Hope this helps.

P.S. Really nice boat.

It’s just a Cheep part that’s so poorly made I never knew it would be such a pain to make many layers of glass and then sand it all down make a bunch of dust and do it over again until I have a part that’s strong enough

Looking like you are making great progress!

I’m getting closer. Keep finding and filling voids. It’s hard to get the glass to lay 100% flat with no pockets but a few more rounds and I’ll be ready for primer. It way solid now.

I don’t know if I am more impressed by the fiberglass work, or that organized tool shelf! Nice.

Fantastic idea!

OCD. Um No Just wanna work in a space that’s clean and well lit and Organized. It’s also a Work in progress. I have found a new hobby wood working . Along with Not having a huge man cave I need to be organized in order to make the most of the limited space I have

Now I turned my Attention to the Galley. It needed a color sand and now I’ll polish it. It had become chalky white in spots

Hey if anyone knows where I can get the Trash can that fits in here. I can’t find the one that fits like the one that came with the boat fits

I think I’m gonna make the Trash Can out of Sunbrella. I think I’ll make an aluminum Frame that matches the ID of the Square Trash opening. And then il have my Friend make me a square bin made of Sunbrella. example Think of a Square Wind sock with a bottom.
