I'd like to put some strip lighting on my new to me boat, just curious where others have done this and where to put them? My boat has 1 white light on the side of the helm. I imagine it would be pretty dark out there at night time. Need to lighten it up a bit.
Well, I only have 1 2"light on the side of my helm. That's it. No other lights on the boat. I would like to add something somewhere to light it up a little more.
I had put mine under the seat bases. 2 on each side up front. I went with blue to go with the factory cupholder, side skirting lights, underwater lights, and bimini top lights.
I only used them setting at the dock or setting at anchor on the bay or a canal cruise.
Red courtesy lighting would best preserve night vision. I too have a white courtesy lamp on the side of the helm station, but I don't use it while underway at night, only when anchored or docked. Additional blue lighting within the playpen will reduce your night vision - the question is whether the reduction is enough to be deleterious to situational awareness/safety while underway.
