I dock my pontoon on a lake. Where I would winterize it is about 40 miles away at dealer I bought it from. Would it void warranty if I d don’t do initial service on iit ? I don’t have a trailer so it wouldn’t be serviced til end of season when they would pick it up. It might have close to about 50 hours then. Any thoughts about this ?

What motor ? I believe Mercury now says 100 hours, or 1 year, whichever comes first. But we did ours at 20 hours as recommended by the dealer.

I do not have a Yamaha ( Mercury ) ,but I have heard you can perform it yourself ,as long as you use Yamaha products and keep your receipts .
Here are their numbers 888 352 1568 or 866 894 1626 , if you would like to check with them .

I would not skip my 20 service after break in. I wanted that excess metals and assembly lube out of the motor.

Just making sure you read the above post!!! Break in causes fine metal filings from the rings/cylinders to go into the oil, and you WANT that out of your oil as soon as it stops (which is after break in at about 20 hours) or it will continue to cause premature wear on your engine. Get the 20 hour service done!

Not to mention depending on the motor, they check any engine adjustments needed and rigging check. At least they did on mine and it’s only a 20Hp!!

and yes... according to my dealer (and i thought the yamaha documentation), you are required to do service on the required schedule or void your warranty... hopefully you followed break in procedures as well...
