Sorry to rant, but I'm trying to figure out if I have just found a really long bad luck streak or is getting anything done to your boat always going to be a PITA?
From ordering our new boat and it not having all the seats with it, a chipped steering wheel, white paint over-spray all over the helm and scratches to our dealership rigging it with the engine in the wrong spot and not wanting to do the minor warranty work like the fact the horn flat out doesn't work or the throttle cable is loose and doesn't hold an rpm. I've fixed all of the above and let me tell you it was like WW-3 getting all of this resolved.
Then, my marina hit the bimini tops on an overhead cross-beam when they were putting the boat away and I needed to get all new panels and bimini tops because everything was bent. This was super fun and only took 6 weeks - and MY insurance had to pay for it due to a disclaimer I apparently signed when I decided to keep my boat with them. The marina at least paid my deductible and gave me $600 in fuel credits. Their mechanics working there, however, dropped my motor one notch because it was rigged wrong and they lifted it with a strap instead of at the lifting point and cracked the bottom cowling. They paid to have it fixed, but does anyone think before they do things anymore? Then, they installed my power pole and the hydraulic line popped out of the motor spilling hydraulic fluid all over the rear teak deck - not to mention the hardship it put us in when the pole was stuck down and we're on a sand bar as the sun is setting.
Well, all of that is resolved now and again - the fun just hasn't stopped!
Now, my last mod is to enclose it so we can camp. I just got the call that the canvas guy is half done (the enclosure panels are on with no windows), but will finish over the next 4-5 weeks. He also needs half the money today - $1500.
Just when I feel like asking myself "what's next," I get a little reluctant because I can only imagine.
The boat absolutely rocks, but it's been a nightmare getting it to here. Does anyone else have these problems with the boat contractors you hire or has Sarasota, FL just got too many boats and not enough boat businesses?
See you on the water!
