Just polished the toons today.

Wow! Looks great! FYI I liked your post!

What method did you use?  And how did it only take a day?  Looks great!!!

As soon as I pulled the boat I power washed the toons then used NAPA aluminum brightener to get everything else off. Yesterday I used a dual action polisher with a wool bonnet and white diamond metal polish. It took about 4 hours to do the port toon, the nose cones and the backs of all 3 toons. I just have the starboard toon left too finish up this week.

Did you have to clean the wool bonnet periodically?  Did you only use 1 bonnet?  I saw these at Lowes yesterday, but I thought I needed the wheel style... you pic looks like it did an awesome job!

I did clean the bonnets a few times throughout the process, I used 2 bonnets for the whole job. To clean them I just used a bucket of warm water and a small brush and rung them out so they were mostly dry. Last year I didn't clean the toons as well with the acid wash so I had a lot more trouble keeping the bonnets clean. The only problem I had this year was turning the polisher up too high and it melted the pad underneath the bonnet.

Did you put sharkhide on it also?

I did not Sharkhide the toons. I think about it every year but haven't done it yet.

I'm starting mine this weekend and i'm having a very hard time sourcing some Sharkhide.

I called 2 distributors that were listed on the Sharkhide website and they stopped selling it!  They suggested I use this moving forward:

Does anyone have experience with this?  Anyone have extra sharkhide they are willing to part with? ;)

Wow are you serious????  I am actually due to put more Sharkhide on mine this season (doing it every other year) so I'm going to be majorly bummed if I can't buy that anymore.

Maybe all the production is going to the Bennington factory.

Wow nice job.  Yeah I remember how sore I was when I did mine.  Wish the original owner of my boat would have done the toons before I bought it.  I'd love to get mine to look like that but I don't think it's possible.
