Lights

I'm not sure you know that the light on the side of the helm can be turned on and off. If you push on the light it is also the switch. It only comes on with the nav or anchor lights on. The brightness of the Garmin can also be changed.

You don't want the lights too bright or you may get night blindness if you look at them then look away .... Dangerous on a boat !!

Get a detachable red light to point at dash or brighter RED bulbs. Boat gauges are not bright for a reason.......
 
Dimming the garmin should help.
