I'm looking to buy a Bennington Pontoon and had one in mind. However, the dealership received the boat 5 months ago and it's been out in the sun and rain without any cover. I'm new to boating but this seems concerning. Any advice or feedback? Thank you

Here is the Bennington Warranty Statement . On the 2nd one read paragraph C. WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS.

Welcome! Tell us more about the Boat Year ? Model ? What state the Boat is in ? If the Dealer can't take 15 mins to cover a Boat do you want to deal with them anyway?

Hi there thank you for the reply! Looking at 2 actually, a 22SSB (2025) and a 2025 M series sport edition they are getting in soon. The salesman has actually been great, answered all my questions and even came up on a Sunday to do a test drive with me. It's a dealership in the panhandle of Florida. I was just curious if other dealerships leave boats out in the weather.

A conscientious dealer would not leave a new boat uncovered for an extended period. It comes from the factory with a mooring cover that would at least protect the furniture cabin, if not the entire deck surface. That's a red flag for me, in terms of doing any business with that dealer. Warranty or not, 5 months being uncovered would be the equivalent of MANY years of normal service with mooring cover on during docked periods.

None of the dealerships around us (there are a lot of them) leave boats outside uncovered AT ALL. They are always covered. The only boats any of them have uncovered are inside in-door show rooms. I would not buy a boat from a dealership that leaves boats uncovered as I would not trust them. As others have mentioned, that is a lot of needless exposure to the elements which does take a toll over time.

That said, we love our swingback layout, and I like the looks of the new M series sport tritoons. By chance, do you have other dealership options around you?

Thank you all for the replies! I ended up going with one that's being shipped from the factory so no concerns about it being left out. I would have considered other dealerships but if you purchase from this one, you get put at the top of the list for dry storage which is normally a several year waiting list. The sales rep was super nice and accommodating just didn't seem concerned about the boat being out in the open for months. They have many boats out in the weather that are several hundred thousand up to million dollar boats just sitting out in the sun. Just seemed odd to me and you all confirmed my concerns. I'm new to boating but I had a feeling this wasn't the norm.

Congratulations. If you care to do so, toss us some pictures when your beautiful new Bennington arrives. Can’t wait to hopefully see it.
