I have a 2006 2050RL and my bimini is 10 inches too tall for my covered dock.  It fits fine down but I'm afraid I will forget to lower it.  Does it need to be as tall as it is?  What is the best way to lower  the "up" height about 10 inches.  Thanks Mike

You'd have to modify your long pivoting Bimini post. Once you shorten that you'd have to move your anchoring bracket to compensate for open position. Seems like a simple mod.

Our bimini stays in the trailering position since it won't fit on the lift with the roof. You can add the trailering struts and it would be a lot less work. I added the struts so as not to lay the bimini down on the sunpad.

I would be concerned about headroom if one was to take 10" off the raised height. Banging your head or having to duck would be more of an issue than remembering to lower the top.

But it only hurts your head, not your wallet .....  :D

Being 6'5 lowering the bimini frame would not work for me. I'll spend the 10 seconds and drop it down into the trailering position each time!

Did you find a solution? Mine is 7” too tall.

All pontoon tops are too tall for good sun and rain protection. The tallest person I know took a foot off the top and is happy he did. Most of the time we are sitting down. I once asked the old marketing manager of Premier pontoons ‘why so tall?’ She said lower tops feel good out on the lake but for some reason not on the showroom floor. They have to get past that.
I have cut down a top. One saw cut leads to another. If you are picky a fabric tuck is also involved. I used ‘c’ clamps to temporarily clamp the tubes at the new proposed pivots. This allowed me to see changes before sawing. Keep in mind that all the hoops must fit in the boot when folded. It’s worth the effort.

Resale - seems my Bimini is not far from my head when walking around, especially when I string up lights - and my son at 6'6" has to be careful.
