Interesting the drop in demand. My guess it is due to increased pontoon popularity thus more outboards providing the grunt out back.

I think you are right.  I'm all for a less crowded lake.

Imagine that! A boat engine just for boats. I wonder if they are working on an airplane engine just for airplanes or lawnmower engines just for lawnmowers.

I understand what Mercury Marine is doing, it's just that the headline writer needs his/her head removed from a cavity.

Oh, but I see the source. Now I understand! ;-)

Oh, and I see the oil filter is STILL upside down on its mount. Stupidest engineering trick ever. Don't these guys ever change their own oil and experience first hand the fun of spilling the filter's contents all over the place? My 25 year old Merc sterndrive has the same stupid arrangement. What are they thinking?

My f200 has the oil filter upside down. When I unscrew it it makes no mess and oil drains back down the spout. Remind me take take a picture next fall when I do it again!

Poke holes in the filter as you're draining the oil, and it will be empty when you take it off.

I'm guessing there's a built in funnel with a spill hose nipple, or it drains back inside. The 150 is mounted sideways and you just attach a hose to the built in funnel. It's easy to wipe up afterwards.

I trust that Mercury has done a better job on this inboard outboard motor than they did last time they came out with an I/O specific motor--the 470.

While Mercury 470's may have done a good job for some, it was really a dud of a motor.
